President elect Barack Obama missed President Bush’s farewell address this week. Was he meeting with security advisers reviewing a national security threat? Was he with his financial advisers going over the economic stimulus plan? No. The thing that kept him from hearing the farewell address of his president was dinner.
This is another sign that Mr. Obama does not intend to lead from the middle and that all of the campaign rhetoric we heard was just that, rhetoric. If he really wanted to earn the respect of conservatives he could have ordered take out watched the speech and still enjoyed the night with his family. I understand he has a big job ahead of him and may not get many opportunities to go out with his wife but I think this was just another in a long line of bad choices. We’re getting used to those but we’re not going to become numb to them. We will call him out every time he makes a bad choice and hold him and his party accountable.
